PSD (Psychiatric Service Dog)

A psychiatric service dog (PSD) is a trained animal that performs specific tasks to help individuals with mental disabilities like PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Unlike an emotional support animal, a PSD is a working animal protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), giving it public access rights. Tasks can include reminding a person to take medication, providing physical contact to reduce anxiety, and interrupting self-harming behaviors. She is a psychiatric service dog, trained to assist with calming of anxiety, panic and disassociation. She has been trained as a therapy dog to provide comfort for clients and has attended obedience
courses.

EDUCATION:

• Good Citizen and therapy dog classes to prepare for her current job.

Meet Charlie

Charlie is a Cavapoo (King Charles Spaniel Poodle mix).

She enjoys traveling, especially airport traveling and meeting people along the way. When she is not working she is home working as a farm dog, hunting mice and keeping the “big dogs” in line.

Charlie has been an active participant in the development of Insight Psychiatry Center, she takes her job very seriously and even over saw construction of our offices.

Summer has a huge love of animals and even has her own farm so she understands how important animals can be in treating her patients.
